Impossible task

I’m talking about the ‘supreme and impossible and never ending task’ for a webdesigner.

Ask him to make his own website.

You may have him (or her) busy for centuries…
Every designer wants to put the best in his own website, to make it perfect.

Perfect!

I had many websites in the past, but I’ve never been so picky as now. For example, I’ve got to this final look after many many many days (and nights) with sketches, drawings, versions (8 or 9), colors and themes.

It started from a simple black color page. And then I said it is too simple: added some more features; then I said it’s too heavy: so I deleted everything and started again from the black/blank page. And again. Into a future post I will show you how all these started. For example, it took me more than one week to build ‘about’ page: what a user can find interesting in ‘about’ page anyway? I had to think to something less personal and more technical; then I said is not good to be too technical - people don’t want to know about css, xhtml, php, mysql, rgb, cymk, eps and what all these means. Do you?
In the end I cut the crap and simplified as it is now (even now I have doubts: is it too much content or too less? should I cut more?). Anyway, people can make an image about what I was trying to say. Hope so.
This is just the story of “about” page.

Each section of this website has its own story. Each one of them.

And then CMS implementation (Expression Engine) was a breeze. I like this CMS because it’s so simple and so modular that you can make it do a lot of things (like fried fries)

Well, this is the 1st post. I want to keep it short.
For every designer out there who tend to be perfect, read this. Hope it helps!
